Introduction

Apprentice CLI (“Apprentice”, or “App”) is owned, operated, and maintained by Voronoi, LLC (“Voronoi”, or “We”). We strongly believe in a right to privacy and share your concern about the security of any data you may submit via Apprentice or through its website (the “Website”, or “Site”), currently accessible at getapprentice.com. By using our Site or App, you consent to our privacy policy.

Privacy is very important to us. In general our policy is “we don’t want to know,” but here are some of our guiding principles:

• We only collect the information we need to run the business of the App.
• Where possible, information you provide the App is stored securely on your device or your server, NOT on our servers.
• We don’t share your personal information with anyone unless we are obligated to for functional or legal reasons.

The rest of this document goes into detail about the what, why, and how of personal information when it comes to the App.

Information We Collect

In the App

We store information about the Laravel Projects you add to Apprentice in order to provide the functionality of the app. All this information is stored securely on your device, not on our servers. The App stores the following:

• A list of projects you add to the App, and the credentials required to connect to them via HTTPS.
• A list of all Artisan Commands available in each connected project.
• A list of recently executed commands and the associated responses from your server.

In the Plugin

In order to use the App we require you to install a plugin on any Laravel project you wish to use with Apprentice. The App uses this plugin to connect to your server and run commands. This plugin stores the following:

• Credentials required to communicate between your server and the App securely using HTTPS.
• Other custom configuration options (e.g. a whitelist of Artisan commands to show in the App)

Apprentice is only available for use with servers configured to use HTTPS and TLS 1.2. When you use our default authentication method, it uses a public/private key-pair that is automatically configured by Apprentice. The public key is stored on your server, while the private key is stored securely on your device.

You are responsible for the security and privacy of your own server and the information on it. If you do identify any security issues with the app or plugin, please email contact@voronoi.me.

Subscription Information

To use premium App features you need a subscription. To verify the status of your subscription we store information about your account including:

• A subscription identifier
• Purchase date
• Transaction identifiers
• Subscription status
• Expiration date
• Reason for subscription expiration
• Trial period status
• Cancellation date
• Cancellation reason
• Additional receipt information provided by Apple required to validate the authenticity of a subscription

This information is stored on a Voronoi server and we only use it to verify the validity of your subscription.

App Analytics

We may collect anonymized aggregated analytics about features in the App. We may collect this ourselves but we also receive information from Apple if you choose to “Share with App Developers.” This information is used to fix bugs and improve the features of the App.

TestFlight Users

We run beta tests through Apple’s TestFlight service. When you join a beta using Testflight, statistics will be shared with us automatically when you use the App, experience a crash, or send us feedback. This information includes:

• The name associated with your TestFlight invitation (if any)
• The email associated with the Apple ID you are testing with
• The version of the App you are using
• The type of Apple device you are using (e.g. iPhone 11)
• The version of the relevant operating system that you are running on said device (e.g. iOS 13.5.1)
• The battery level of your device at the time of reporting
• The time zone you are in (e.g. America/New_YORK)
• The network connection type (e.g. Wi-FI or LTE)
• The amount of free disk space on your device (e.g. 35 GB)
• The screen resolution of your device (e.g. 414pts by 896pts)

We only use this information to fix bugs and improve the app and will never share it. We may potentially use it to contact you for more information about any crashes or bugs you experience. We will not use this information to market to you, unless you opt-in for marketing communications through the website.

Website Analytics

When you visit our marketing website we collect very basic, non-identifiable information about what page you visited and whether a marketing URL was used to access the site. We DO NOT collect your IP address, location data, or anything else that could connect the site visit to you. We collect this information in order to get a picture of how many people are visiting the site and how our marketing campaigns are working.

Email Communications

You have the ability to opt-in to marketing emails through getapprentice.com. In that case we collect and store your first and last name (if provided) as well as your email address. We make sure you actually wanted to subscribe via a confirmation email. You can unsubscribe from these emails at any time by clicking the “unsubscribe” link in a given email.

We may also conduct service requests via email, in which case your correspondences will be stored on our company mail server.

Children

We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from children under the age of 18 and do not target the Website or App to children under 18. If you are under eighteen, please do not submit any data through the App or Website.

We encourage parents and legal guardians to monitor their children’s Internet usage and to help enforce our privacy policy by instructing their children to never provide personal data through any of our app or site without their permission. If you have reason to believe that a child under the age of eighteen has provided personal data to us, please contact us, and we will endeavor to delete that information from our servers.

Exclusions

This privacy policy does not apply to any unsolicited information you provide to us, such as feature requests and feedback sent via our support channels. All unsolicited information shall be deemed to be non-confidential and we shall be free to reproduce, use, disclose, and distribute such unsolicited information to others without limitation or attribution.

Disclosure of Your Information

We do not disclose your personal or identifying information with other parties except where it is necessary to run the App (e.g. to verify a subscription with Apple). However, we reserve the right to share any information to comply with any court order, law, or legal process, including to respond to any government or regulatory request.

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are fully aware of all of your data protection rights. Every user is entitled to the following:

• The right to access: You have the right to request copies of your personal data.
• The right to rectification: You have the right to request we correct any personal information you believe is inaccurate. You also have the right to request to complete information you believe is incomplete.
• The right to erasure: You have the right to request that we erase your personal data, under certain conditions.
• The right to restrict processing: You have the right to request that we restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
• The right to object to processing: You have the right to object to Voronoi’s processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
• The right to data portability: You have the right to request that we transfer the data that we have collected to another organization, or directly to you, under certain conditions.

California Online Privacy Protection Act Compliance

We comply with the California Online Privacy Protection Act. We therefore will not distribute your personal information to outside parties without your consent.

Information for European Union Customers

By using the App and providing your information, you authorize us to collect, use, and store your information outside of the European Union.

Citizens of the EU may exercise their rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, such as the rights of access and erasure, by contacting us with their request. We recommend emailing the request to contact@voronoi.me.

Disclaimer

While we continue to work hard to protect your data, no transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be absolutely secure, and we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to Voronoi. Transmitting personal information is done at your own risk.
